Event Details

THE PAT MCCARTHY QUARTET FEATURING SHANNON REILLY

Shannon is a vocalist of exceptional quality and her spellbinding performances have captivated audiences across the UK, and occasionally Japan and Paris.  She has been singing since the age of five and grew up listening to Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day and Peggy Lee. Although she developed her style listening to these iconic singers, she is very much her own woman.

Pat McCarthy has been a professional player since 1981, and had the great good fortune to play with some of the UK’s top musicians, plus a handful of visiting Americans.  Playing with bands such as the Paul McGrath Quintet, the Pat McCarthy/Rick Woolgar group, and  the Pat McCarthy Quartet.  At the moment he is enjoying playing with the Shannon Reilly Trio.

Since graduating from Newcastle College of Music in 1989, Warren Jolly has been in constant demand as a session player and side man with some of the best known names in jazz and pop: including Kenny Wheeler, Andy Sheppard, and Jim Mullen.  He has also toured with Blur, Simon Webb and the Drifters.

Thom Whitworth has won various accolades which include being the Perrier Jazz Awards semi-finalist and winner of the Kenny Baker Memorial Competition.  It’s very unusual to find a player who is creative and fluent on two very different instruments: the trumpet and guitar.  Undoubtedly a rising star on the jazz club and festival circuit. His influences include Miles Davis, Arturo Sandoval, Wes Montgomery, and Pat Metheny.
