How does it work?
The backdrop and set for the show doubles as a projection screen, where a combination of pre-made and live animations are show which the audience (and Cardboard Joe) get to interact with to move the story along.
Dan Mallaghan plays Cardboard Joe and the idea is that the audience always know more than him and have to join him to help create a brand new story just for him.
Musician Nick Lewis will be onstage the whole time and will score the whole show live, create all the sound effects and facilitate interaction between Cardboard Joe and the audience. There are even opportunities for the audience to join Nick onstage to make the music… including on a specially made cardboard guitar!
Animator Fabric Lenny (aka Paul Slater) is visible to the audience, he is introduced at the beginning and the audience are made aware that he is creating animations live on his iPad throughout the show.
Key selling points:
” Interactive fun for the whole family ” A combination of music, storytelling, performance and animation all in one show ” No such thing as too much joining in ” Loud, daft and energetic fun ” Animation created live and in real time, led by the young audience so every show is different
